
On Wednesday, July 30, part of our Tech & Product team headed to Aiguablava, in Begur, for a very special day: the third and final workshop in a series designed to look ahead, challenge the status quo, build with purpose, and envision what we want Frekuent to become in the future.
The goal? To design solutions that create real value and give customers reasons to keep coming back.
This time, we stepped away from our usual workspaces and immersed ourselves—literally—in a unique setting. It was a full day of creative work, stunning views, and an unbeatable atmosphere by the sea.
Three workshops to design the future
This workshop on the Costa Brava wasn’t a one-off. It was the last in a series of three sessions:
- First workshop: It all began with a small-group session led by Xavi Sans (CEO) and Jose Contreras (CTO). The goal was to pause, reflect inward, and redefine Frekuent’s purpose and direction. Through strategic reflection exercises, we created space to identify new opportunities in the payments space and challenge some of the assumptions behind our current product. The result: powerful ideas and greater collective clarity around the challenges ahead.
- Second workshop: We widened the lens in the second session, involving the entire Tech & Product team. We wanted to understand their view of the market—and, beyond their roles, tap into their creative and strategic thinking. We explored themes like “Future points of sale,” “Digital payment products,” and “New Frekuent services,” generating both short- and long-term ideas.
- Third workshop: The final workshop took place in Aiguablava with a smaller group selected from the previous session. In this exceptional setting, we created space for free exploration, bold thinking, and unfiltered creativity. How do we imagine the world of payments 10 years from now? Where could Frekuent fit in? What wild ideas might reshape our industry? This workshop was all about dreaming big, thinking without limits, and then turning bold ideas into tangible actions.
A space to think differently
We kicked off the day with a fun icebreaker, where everyone shared the most ridiculous payments they had ever made. Laughter helped break the ice and foster a trusting, open environment.
Then, Xavi and Jose provided a deep dive into the current landscape and where the industry might be headed—warming us up for the more creative part of the day. Through divergent and convergent thinking exercises, we generated ideas, identified areas for improvement, and mapped possible future paths for Frekuent.
Between sessions, we enjoyed a delicious lunch on the hotel terrace. And to cap off the day, after sharing feedback on the experience, a few of us jumped into the sea for a well-earned swim. The perfect ending to this cycle of workshops!
